Hone your plastering skills and introduction to two-coat plaster work applications.

This five-day plastering course will improve your plastering to a high level. It is ideal for existing tradespersons like a plumber or kitchen fitter, those wishing to enter the plastering industry or maybe to add plastering to your skills base and undertake plastering jobs for your customers.

The aim of all our plastering courses is to develop your plastering skills quickly, build your self-confidence, and to familiarise you with real building situations and problems. We achieve this by giving you hands-on experience on-site, explaining correct procedures and demonstrating effective plastering techniques that will fast-track you to your full potential.

Course Content

  • Health and Safety Induction, on-site regulations, equipment and tools;
  • Overview of course, specific to the building project;
  • Skimming and finishing to a smooth finish ready for decorating;
  • Preparation of surfaces and affix beading to angles and windows;
  • How to Skim walls including reveals and soffits;
  • How to successfully apply plaster to ceilings/plasterboard/artex*;
  • Two Coat Plaster products explained
  • Two Coat wall application plastering on block or brick work (Float and Set);
  • Preparation for the purpose of 'making good' - (electrical chases, holes, window reveals, old plastered walls;
  • Techniques in 'making good' to a very high skill level;
  • How to screed floors; screeding elements will be required during projects and demonstrated as and when applicable;

  • *Correct use of stilts for ceiling preparation and plastering work. This is voluntary and based on an evaluation of your skill level and ability during the course.

All courses will also include information on the following;

  • Quantities and coverage of different types of plaster for different backgrounds;
  • Basic market rates for small works and major contract work.
